    Sealcoating

Sealcoat is a mixture of emulsified asphalt, mineral fillers, and other additives including water. Sealcoat is applied to the cleaned asphalt surface in two ways: squeegee or mechanical sprayer. Sealcoat is applied for two main reasons protection and beautification:

Protection:  By sealing your asphalt you are helping to stop the penetration of water on the asphalt surface. Sealcoat also protects the asphalt surface from the sun and harmful chemicals (oil, anti-freeze, etc).

Beautification of your parking lot or street:  By sealing your asphalt you will have turned the surface of your pavement black giving it a new-like appearance and possibly adding years of life.

    Paving and Overlay

Paving is the installation of asphalt on base when creating a new parking lot or overlaying an existing parking lot that is beyond repair.

New Parking Area:  When creating a new parking area you must first have a solid base. Just like building a new house a good foundation is key. Depending on elevation and other circumstances we dig out to 8 inches below grade on average and haul away. Next, is to install 6 to 7 inches of base and compact with a vibratory plate or roller. Finally, install type SIII hot asphalt mix rolled and compacted to 1-1/2” min.  For heavy traffic area 2” would be recommended.

Overlay Existing Area: At this point the asphalt is beyond repair.  An overlay is exactly what it says; we are overlaying the existing asphalt.  First, we must remove all loose material and debris from the area. Then a tack coat is applied, which will help bond the new asphalt to the existing surface. Hot asphalt mix is rolled and compacted to a 1” average in most cases. (For heavy commercial vehicle traffic, additional inch of asphalt should be considered.)

    Speed bumps

Speed bumps are a great way to slow down traffic, whether it is in an apartment complex or a home owner’s association, let us install speed bumps for you . Our speed bumps are made out of hot asphalt mix that is rolled and compacted to a height of approximately 2-1/2”, width of 12”-18”, and a length usually of  20’. Depending on the slope of the road, invert or crowned, an opening can be left in the center or at the edges to allow water flow.
